Minecraft Redstone Ore is the most basic form of Minecraft Redstone and is essentially useless until it is harvested for the piles of Redstone Dust.

Where to Find Redstone Ore in Minecraft

If you want to find Redstone Ore, you should look near Gold or Lava. You will generally have to dig down to within 15-20 blocks of the bottom of the map. Here you can find Redstone Ore Veins, which are 1-8 blocks in length.

Mining Redstone Ore

In order to get the savory sweet Redstone Dust, you will need to destroy the Redstone Ore with an Iron Pickaxe or stronger. This will drop 4-5 piles of Dust, which can be used in making a Redstone Wire, Redstone Torch and Redstone Repeater.
